Health tip: Experts find supplements 'reduce the risk of heart disease and strokes' with protein shakes

Drinking a protein supplement could help to reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke, new research suggests.

Whey protein - popular among bodybuilders - was found to lower blood pressure and cholesterol as well as making blood vessels healthier.

Those taking the supplement were found to have an eight per cent less chance of developing a deadly heart condition.

Food with high protein includes:
  • soy bean,
  • whey
  • milk, cheese,
  • egg,
  • fish - salmon, cod, herring,
  • meat - chicken, pork,
  • wheat germ,
  • chia seeds
